Once a Push, Now a Pull

Hundreds of bison thundered down the Montana mountainside. Riders herded them into great round pens for holding. Sorting was meticulous. A long wand read electronic chips in their ears, transmitting a signal to the database for identification of each animal. Shots and medical services were given if needed. The young calves required marking with a brand to the hide, and an information chip was inserted for future reference. The animals weren’t nearly as excited about this process as we were. This whole ordeal interrupted their routine. Their “normal” was invaded, and their future was affected. Why? Because someone cared enough to preserve the herd.

God, too, cared enough to preserve His people. When surrender takes place, loving God and loving people come naturally instead of “forced.” It’s no longer a push, but a pull.
