An Angel or A Goose?

February 7th, 2023

1 Samuel 2:1-11

My brothers are identical triplets. I have often said that when they were little they behaved like devils, but sang like angels. Those guys can pull off a three-part harmony like nobody’s business. They sing, the heavens part and the angels join in. I, however, sound like a dying goose. I might be exaggerating all of this a little.

The other day my friend looked over at me and said “you sing at me when you are happy.” It is true. I sing random lines from songs, movies, or simply sing instead of speaking. I apologized with a smile and she replied, “No, I love it. It is who you are.”

Hannah’s prayer reads like a song that is expressed from the very depths of her being. Nothing is held back. It is filled with love, hurt, joy, praise, justice, and life! Everything that is in her comes out in this moment of pure joy. Whether you sing like an angel or a goose, choose joy today. Find reasons to sing God’s praise. Don’t hold back! Let the rejoicing begin.

It appears the scripture reference should be 1 Samuel 1:1-11.
