Getting to Know God

Proverbs 2:1-11

I love of all things cars. Growing up I helped my dad work on cars. We attended and participated in car events. I hope to pass this love of cars on to my children. This only happens through hands on training. Even with all of this experience there are still times that I am amazed at and stand in awe of people who have such a deep understanding of cars that they can diagnose a problem just by listening to the car itself.

Proverbs 2 says that if we accept God’s words and commands that we will then understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. This “fear” of the Lord isn’t cowering in a corner because we are literally afraid. Rather, it is the “awe” that I have when my friends can diagnose a car problem from a sound because their intimate knowledge of that car. To understand God so intimately that we are in awe of Him and we find just a glimpse of His knowledge amazing, should be a desire of our heart.
