Godly Leaders

Hebrews 13:7-17
In recent years, we have witnessed the downfall of many formerly trusted and respected Christian leaders. Some fell prey to the allure of riches, but the vast majority succumb to sexual temptation, leaving a wake of abused people and devastated, once-trusting followers.
Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. His character is unchanging; his mercy, compassion, and justice never cease or shift. A godly leader, then, lives in constant pursuit of Jesus, seeking to be shaped and reshaped into the image of Jesus. His or her life is marked by humility, repentance, devotion, courage, and sacrificial love.
The author calls us to have confidence in such leaders, and to submit to their authority. This exchange of faithful, Christ-shaped leadership, and trusting, prayerful following can result in a flourishing church that reflects Jesus to the world.
