Walk the Walk

2 John 1:1-8
How do we know if something or someone is authentic? Antique Roadshow was a popular television program that strived to do this for everyday people and the items they believed to be valuable. It was an interesting scene to see a variety of people lined up with such an odd assortment of items, big and small, waiting for the verification that indeed their possession was valuable.
How do we verify the authenticity of our relationship with God? We walk the walk. Let’s be clear: it is easy to talk the walk but it’s because of God’s grace that we can walk the walk. What is God’s command? Jesus, when asked this question, said the greatest of God’s commands is to love God with everything you are and to love your neighbor (everyone else). Every other commandment hangs on these two (which are really two sides of the same coin: you can’t have one without the other).
How do we verify our lives in Christ? We love God and we love others. We place them before ourselves.
