Luke 19:28-40

Luke 19 shares the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem prior to His death and resurrection. The disciples were told to go, find a colt tied up, and bring it to Jesus. If anyone were to challenge the disciples, they were to respond by saying, “The Lord needs it” (verse 31).

In our present day we do not all have colts, but many of us do have various modes of transportation. This would be like someone walked into your house, found the keys to your car, and started to drive away. The only reason the person has for taking your car being, “The Lord needs it.” What is interesting is that there is no push back on this request for the use of the colt by the owner. The answer, “The Lord needs it” was enough. The owner of the colt is an example of simple obedience.

How often does God ask something of me, maybe to give something up, or take up a new discipline, and I do not easily comply?  What a wonderful reminder of our need for simple obedience to Jesus.
