1 John 3:1-8

His name was Richard Gunn, but everyone called him Uncle Pek. He was Poet Laureate of Tennessee, but our church’s children just knew that he was a kind man who always carried candy in his pockets, and counted on him for a small snack on their way into the service. One Sunday with several children waiting expectantly at the door, I ducked into my staff office where I knew a bag of candy was stashed. Emerging to offer what I thought would satisfy, one of them shook his head and replied, “He’ll be here soon.” Just then a smiling man hustled to the door with hands outstretched, filled with mints. Their hope was rewarded.

John celebrated God’s lavish love for His children and the hope we have as a result. Such unshakeable confidence turns down other offers; our trust in Him can turn us away from following the tempter and give us a purity of focus on Him as our Lord. Just as Jesus relied on His Father, we can devote ourselves fully to Jesus and be renewed in righteous living through His grace.

I miss the ability to share the devotionals on my Facebook page.

I resolved the Facebook share problem. I have an Ad blocker program on and it was blocking the ability to share the devotional to Facebook.
