Proverbs 2:1-11

Every Christian parent knows the dilemma. On one hand, few variables are more indicative of the potential for later success than higher education. On the other hand, at least anecdotally, few things pose a greater threat to faith than education. We have heard stories of children who have gone off to college and wandered away from faith.

So, what do we choose for our children? Do we encourage education and risk their salvation? Or do we discourage education, in the hopes to safeguarding their faith. Take heart, Solomon tells us.

If we turn our ear to wisdom, if we apply ourselves to the pursuit of understanding, if we call out for insight and plead for understanding, if we search for truth like an adventurer in pursuit of buried treasure or a prospector seeking out a vein of silver . . . Then we’ll end up understanding the fear of the Lord and finding the knowledge of God.

Pursue truth, Solomon assures us, because if we relentlessly, diligently seek wisdom, in the end it will lead us to God.
