Ephesians 6:10-21

Have you ever faced a task bigger than your resources? Ever felt inadequate for the work you have been given? Sometimes we recoil from these challenges, yielding to the conclusion that we don’t have what it takes. Christian servants aren’t immune from such temptations.

Even the apostle Paul, a stalwart of Christian faith and service, knew the need for help beyond himself. He was aware the task before him was greater than his own resources. He calls out for the church in Ephesus to pray for the very words to courageously communicate the mystery of the gospel. He knows that the work of articulating the good news and influencing the world toward Christ is an undertaking far too grand for his own abilities.

This is true for any who carry out the work of the kingdom. Yet, the strength and resources of Christ are available and sufficient! We can ask. So, let us also respond to Paul’s request of the Ephesians. Let us accept the invitation to pray for those who serve the mission of God and the work of the church.
