Stand Firm

Luke 21:5-19
In 2008, large financial institutions, deemed too big to fail, appeared to be seated at a gaming table, considering their options. As history reveals, some of the institutions at that table missed the cues. When the dust had cleared, the landscape was littered with failures.
How do we find solid ground in the quicksand of turmoil, accelerating change, and instability? We have witnessed the debacle of those institutions as well as individuals who appeared to anchored to a solid foundation, as the tether has been loosened.
The apostle knew first hand what it was like to see good friends and colleagues in the ministry slip away from the bonds of spiritual unity. Elsewhere in the scriptures, we are admonished: “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” (1 Cor. 10:12).
“Standing firm,” presents a powerful visual image that need few if any words to describe. You may be pummeled by the challenges of life, but you can stand strong and win life!
