Matthew 19:16-30

There is passion in following Christ. The passion of a steadfast faith is not like a first kiss but more like a wedding day: a sacred and unforgettable day. In the midst of beauty and blessings, sacred vows are made. By joining right hands and repeating a few words people commit themselves to an unknown future. In essence they are promising: “No matter what happens—I’m all in!”

In Matthew 19, the rich young ruler was NOT all in. His faith was fragile and his passions were safe. Wouldn’t you like to explain to him what he was walking away from that day? The passion of God for people like you and me is a deep and abiding love. He wants to give you a rich and satisfying life. He invites you to lighten your heavy burden and rest in Him. Then Christ-followers can participate in the peace that only He can provide.

The rich young ruler had something standing in his way of becoming a passionate follower of the Jesus. He was unwilling to be all in. In your passion for God give your life away by sharing who you are and what you have.
