Marching Orders

Joshua 6:1-11
One does not capture a city by marching around it. A normal battle would call for weapons that could damage walls or the structures and people behind the walls. Yet, God does not call Joshua to do this. Instead, Joshua is told to march around the wall.
Joshua could have easily told God that he was crazy. Yet, he chooses to remain obedient to God’s call on his life. 1 Corinthians 1:1 says, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to those who are being saved it is the power of God.” Many times, the things that God asks us to do may seem foolish to those who are not Christians. The call to put others ahead of yourself is a dangerous proposition. Yet, this is how the upside-down kingdom of God works. The last are first. The weak are strong. It does not make sense, yet this is what we are called to do. May we go forth like Joshua and be foolish for Christ.
