Forever

Psalm 136:1-18
Human beings can be very limited in our thinking. Our concept of time, for example, is very limited. We general think of time as having a starting and a stopping point such as morning and evening, or life and death. This can get in the way of us understanding a God who is eternal, who has always been and will always be. More importantly, this can get in the way of understanding just how deep God’s love is for God’s creation.
In Psalm 136, the psalmist proclaims over and over again a love that completely transcends our understanding of time: “His love endures forever.” This wonderful proclamation tells us that God’s love for us is never shaken. There is never a time in our lives where God’s love is not present and God’s hand is not extended to us. There is no sin in our lives that God does not offer us peace from through forgiveness. This forever enduring love which is not bound by even time itself should give us immense joy and hope for each new day.
