Acts 15:22-35

Solomon wrote, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver” (Proverbs 25:11, NKJV). The right word, said at the right time, with the right tone is indeed very precious. It is a healing balm, the spark that lights a fire in a dark place, or the inspiration to take another step forward.

We don’t know the words that the two prophets in Acts 15 spoke to the Gentile believers in Antioch, but we know the outcome: the people were encouraged and strengthened. Others were telling them what they needed to do as Christ followers, but it was being told through the written word. They couldn’t hear words or the tone used; they couldn’t sense the writer’s heart when the words were written. That communication would come through Judas and Silas. Resulting in encouragement and spiritual strength.

What would happen if before we entered that difficult conversation, or spoke to someone hurting or grieving, that we spoke first to our heavenly Father and asked Him to give us words that would encourage and strengthen?
