Matthew 5:17-32
Those who teach bear a sacred responsibility. A reputable teacher checks facts, quotations and sources. Those in the media usually verify their stories from at least three sources before broadcasting or publishing material. An author friend of mine spends many hours checking quotations, sources and facts. Accuracy is primary. Inattention to accuracy leads to fuzzy and slothful learning.
So it is with holy living. Jesus understood and modeled this truth. Setting aside commands, however slight, has profound consequences. Sooner or later disobedience will result. Holiness is a matter of the heart and the heart of the matter. Solomon advised “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverbs 4:23). How well are you keeping His commands and therefore, guarding your heart?
