1 Corinthians 1:18-31
Sometimes, life can feel like an uphill battle. As the world pulls for our attention, living a holy and wise life might seem impossible. Any attempt to live such a life without Christ is utterly futile. Jesus reminds us in His Sermon on the Mount: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock” (Matthew 7:24-25).
As the world pulls at our hearts and minds, choose to build your life on Christ, the sure foundation. Seek Him morning and night. Let Him be the air that you breathe. When we do this, the pressure to live a wise and holy life is no longer on our shoulders–Christ took that burden on our behalf. When we are in Christ, it is not our own personal wisdom that shines, but it comes from Jesus, our one and true wise King.
