Isaiah 40:25-31

High above the lake and trees, an eagle spreads his wings and soars. No flapping, no great struggle, he moves from one updraft to another, a master of every wind that comes his way. God created this majestic bird with the ability and strength to actually be lifted up on the winds of storm. God has also said that when we put our hope in Him, we will have that same strength.

When we wait and when we hope, it may be because some situation we face ought to be different. At that time, we have choices. We can fear and we can worry, we can complain and even get angry, or we can hope in God and in His provision.

When troubles come–and they will–we can choose to think on the good, the true, and the beautiful, and the peace of God will be with us (see Philippians 4:8-9). This is a step beyond “the power of positive thinking.” This is an abandonment to the assurance that in God’s hands, all will be well. We trust in His unfailing love, His infinite mercy, and His grace. Then our strength is renewed.
