Numbers 32:6-7, 14-23
The Israelites were finally at their destination–the Promised Land. It was time for them to step into the land God had provided for them and trust God for the battles that were ahead. However, two of the tribes decided they were content staying just outside of what God had planned for them. They chose to provide a safe and comfortable spot for their families, just in case their current life was as good as it was going to get.
The decision to settle for less than God’s best does not just affect our own lives. Moses pointed out to the tribes of Gad and Reuben that their decision to choose mediocrity had the potential to influence the decisions of those around them, just as our actions affect others.
Our faith should not stop short of where God is leading us. May we trust in a God who longs to take us all the way–to the life He has planned for us. Let us be faithful to join our brothers and sisters in Christ in the battles ahead, knowing God’s plan is always better than our own.
