1 Timothy 6:11-21
The Christian life is not easy. The word Paul uses is a picture of competing in athletic games or engaging in military battle. The thought is to have superior weapons that will out maneuver the weapons of the enemy.
Paul reminds us that “we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3b-5). The devil has been defeated already. He was defeated when Christ came to save and rescue us from the power of sin with His blood. The enemy puts on an appearance of power, but in reality he has none.
The Word of God is the Will of God. To fight the good fight of faith, we must take hold of the Word of God that gives us eternal life. Then we can march forward, united together to eternal life.
