Isaiah 34:9-17

Prophecy can often be a divisive topic among Christians. Some people, when they hear the word prophecy, think of terms like “antichrist” or “rapture.” This is unfortunate, for prophecy is a broad subject covering more than 25 percent of Scripture. Yet, without a proper understanding, prophecy can be divisive and dangerous.

Although prophecy does have a future emphasis, some of which pertains to the end of days, not all prophecy is about the antichrist and the end of the world. In its essence, prophecy is God’s declaration of His plan to redeem and save a lost world. For example, Revelation 19:10 says, “At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus’” (emphasis mine).

This brings us hope! God is working on our behalf and is transforming us into the person He created us to be.
