1 Corinthians 1:1-9

One of the great tourist attractions in North America is in Yellowstone National Park. It is the geyser named Old Faithful, discovered September 18, 1870. Many consider it to be one of the most predictable occurrences on Earth. It erupts every 91 minutes. It is a faithful event. That God is faithful is not a meaningless assumption. It is a vivid reality for all who trust in Him for salvation through Christ our Lord.

Challenge to Holy Living

Today’s scripture passage contains some lively words of assurance and God’s faithfulness; words like “to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people” and, “He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The apostle Paul presumes a condition on the part of the Christian to be vital to God’s faithfulness. It is clearly a lifestyle of sanctification, a fellowship of holy people. As human beings we have our faults–some inherited, some acquired over a lifetime, but all rendered unimpeachable through the saving power of Jesus Christ. Indeed, God remains faithful!
