Acts 3:11-26

When Jesus changes lives, people notice. Those at the temple were astonished by the healing of the lame man. Peter was quick to say he’d been healed by faith in the name of Jesus. Then Peter began to preach. Like a prosecuting attorney, he charged them with Jesus’ death. “You handed him over to be killed” (v. 13). “You killed the author of life” (v. 15). They had no defense.

It’s easier to make excuses than to repent. Little children learn to say, “It wasn’t my fault.” Adults sometimes make apologies, saying, “I’m sorry if I’ve hurt anyone.”

Peter’s hearers knew they were guilty. That was very bad news, but there was good news too. God had raised Jesus from the dead. Though they were guilty, God didn’t want to condemn but to save them.

Peter called them to repent. He said if they turned to God, their sins would be wiped out.

A snowfall covers everything and makes it beautiful for a while. When we turn to God he removes every trace of sin.
