He Has Overcome The World

John 16:16-33

As I came closer to the time required to leave my mission assignment, I became concerned about the future. Where would I live? Would I have enough money for rent, for food, for utilities? How would I take care of my medical needs? I became overwhelmed with the unknowns as I focused on myself.

God’s Word tells us to take heart. After much struggling, I turned the unknowns over to him and found the peace he had promised. When I returned to the United States, God provided a ministry position and enough money for a car, a comfortable home, and medical needs.

Paul was shipwrecked, beaten, ridiculed, tested by all means, and still demonstrated a life of peace. My friend was diagnosed with cancer, gave up her church position, stopped her job, was on chemo for two years, and still demonstrated a life of peace.

We will have trouble in this world; there is no doubt about it. But we have peace because he has overcome the world.

The referenced title, “He has Overcome the World,” reminds us of the promises given in Revelation 2 & 3 to the seven churches. We need the Holy Spirit given in Jesus name to help us overcome the world.

Assumption of the definition of the world (besides all that is not Holy) is headed by the authorities and principalities that have come into existence by the need for rule and our neglect of the heavenly rule of the “ten” commandments:

    1. The Government
    2. Society
    3. Commerce
    4. Small Business
    5. The Media
    6. Retail Market
    7. The Church of False Religion (that knows NOT what they do)
