Psalm 112:1-10

Psalm 112, verse 4 of this psalm describes the upright as gracious, compassionate, and righteous. This is a picture of my friend Margie. For 29 years she served as administrator of one of the largest churches in town and then transitioned to a similar position in a growing parachurch ministry. Margie had tremendous people skills and was the “go-to” person in the ministry. She could multitask like no other person I knew. She never waited for someone else to meet the needs of others. When riding with Margie I often heard, “Need to stop by and drop off this meal and clothes to a needy family,”

Margie had major surgery and was at home for a period of time recuperating. One day as her husband Jack, yet another time returned from answering the door, complained, “Margie, you have to tell these people to stop bringing us meals. There is no more room in the refrigerator.” Margie kindly reminded Jack that for years she had taken meals to many people in the church and the community. Now, these people had the opportunity to return the favor. And the food kept coming as a reward for her generosity.
