Radiate God’s Light

Matthew 5:13-20
Spelunking or “caving” is a great adventure for the strong-hearted adventurer who is not afraid of dark, narrow underground spaces. As a teenager I remember visiting Dixie Caverns near Roanoke, Virginia. Although an experienced caver would scoff at anyone with fears of hiking through there, I must confess I was quite eager to return to the brightness of daylight. It was reassuring to feel the warm summer day embracing us as we emerged.
That’s how it is when we are around someone who truly loves Jesus. They just seem to emanate light from our Lord. I had the privilege of being with some wonderful believers who practically shine with the love of Jesus. There’s an atmosphere of peace that surrounds them regardless of what is happening in their lives.
Several years ago I interviewed Bill and Vonette Bright for a magazine. They “shone” with that special glow. Later we learned Bill had been diagnosed with a terminal illness right before that conference. Yet they had not lost their radiance.
That’s what I want to be–a beacon of hope shining for Jesus in the dark world around us.

No doubt, you are.
God gives us the desires of our heart (Psalms 37:4).
We can be the flashes of light (lightening) during a storm. The sounding of the thunder depends upon the distance from Christ.
During a storm the positive ions and the negative ions separate in the cloud. The positive ions end up in the top of the cloud and the negative ones on the bottom. It is the negative ones that are “attracted” to the earth (the world). The positive ones have moved to the top of the cloud (having their eyes fixed above).
Stay positive!
