My Home Is Waiting

2 Corinthians 5:1-10
Gene and Joyce were excited about building a new house. Joe, a member of their church and one of the best builders in the area, was developing a new subdivision. They rode across the vast acreage and selected a choice lot. It was exciting to see the house come together. They enjoyed living in their “dream house” for more than 14 years.
The time came, however, when the Lord made it clear that it was time for them to downsize. Miraculously, they found a considerably smaller house nearby, also built by their friend. God gave them a great love for their new house.
Even though they enjoy their present home, they know their stay here is temporary. You see, our eternal home is being prepared by our heavenly Father. Jesus said, “My Father’s house has many rooms.” He promised to prepare a place for us in heaven. Then he added, “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:2-3). How awesome!
My greatest desire is to live my life as planned by our Father. Then when my earthly tent is folded I’ll move on up to live with him in the place he has built for me.
