It’s A Trust Issue

Proverbs 18:1-15

There is quite a contrast between people who trust in God and people who trust in themselves or their possessions. Those who trust in the Lord approach things entirely different than those who do not.

When people who trust in God have an issue or need, it is natural for them to immediately take their concern to the Lord. They recognize him as their Source of strength and hope. On the other hand, those who do not trust in the Lord are convinced that they are safe and protected by their possessions, their degrees, their investments, their career, their physical condition, their health, etc. So many people trust in these and things like them. They fail to recognize God as the source of all good things including life itself.

What would it mean for you to turn your back on all of these other things and decided to place your full confidence and trust in him? Are you still trying to independently trust in yourself, your ability, your ingenuity? Stop depending on your own strength. Learn to depend completely on him. That’s when you can simply relax because you’re in good hands.

When God trusts us with a few things before He trusts us with many (Matthew 25:21), it is like we are taking baby steps regarding His trust with us.

Surely then, He understands the principle of “trust building.”

When we take a step, it is a move forward, no matter how small. Some of us just have a larger “stride” than others.

However, a straddled step is an inactive non-committal move.

The frequency and size of the steps determine the distance to the goal (which must be important for us).
