Wisdom’s Source

Proverbs 2:1-11

Have you noticed that wisdom seems to be in short supply in our world these days? We see it in so many facets of society. A lack of wisdom could explain the massive financial problems in our world. Family and other relational problems are often the result of a lack of wisdom. Only the arrogant or foolish person refuses to admit his or her need for wisdom.

The good news is that God has promised to supply wisdom to those who seek it. Rather than frantically trying to figure everything out on your own, why don’t you turn to him? Abraham Lincoln once said, “I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.” I guess “Honest Abe” could have been called “Wise Abe” as well.

Recognize God as the true Source for all wisdom. Turn to him regularly. He has promised to provide wisdom for those who seek it. Have you asked God for wisdom to handle that problem you are facing right now? He is waiting to answer your prayer.

    God is our source. (1 Kings 4:29)

    Our hearts are the problem! Wisdom is in short supply because of the “choices” society makes. As a whole, the world is “keeping up with the Jones;” and, as a whole, the Christians aren’t keeping up with Jesus.
