2 Corinthians 12

How often does God ask us to do something we can’t do?

I first became familiar with this concept while attending a Bible school that also trained youth workers. One day the director stood before us talking about Moses.

“When God told Moses to lead the Israelites from slavery, Moses said, ‘Lord I can’t do that!’” Dr. Al Metsker exclaimed. “Then God replied, ‘I know you can’t. Now get going.’ When we realize we can’t do something God’s called us to do, then we have to count on God to make it happen through us!”

I knew he spoke from experience. Through the years God had called this man with no assets beyond his faith to start Bible clubs in 300 high schools, youth rallies for 1,500 teenagers weekly, a Christian television station, a home and adoption service for pregnant teens, and more. In each endeavor, he had to learn new facts and trust God to make it happen. And God always did.

All of us can think of people we know who let God take their weak human selves and build his will.
