Our Sacrifice of Praise

June 24th, 2012

RG AUDIO 062412Hebrews 13:9-21

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer” (Ps. 19:14). The Bible affirms the value of vocal praise as well as inward reflection.

The writer of the letter to the Hebrews understood clearly the relationship between the Old Testament concept of sacrifice and the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Jesus was the complete sacrifice for all our sin, providing forgiveness and cleansing for our sinful natures. Through his empowering and guiding Holy Spirit, there is grace to live lives of spiritual victory. Such a complete salvation calls for joyous expression.

Like the seraphim who fly before the face of God, we cry out continually, with our whole being, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory” (Isa. 6:3). This is the cry of those who have encountered the Holy One.
