What are the significant events in your life? Graduation, marriage, birth of children, start of a new job, death of a loved one, or retirement. These important events alter the way you live from that point on. Would you include an encounter with Jesus in that list?

In Mark 16, we read about Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome; two days before they had witnessed Jesus’ crucifixion and death. Now, they were coming to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body. They could not have expected what they found. Instead of Jesus’ dead body, there was an angel. The angel spoke these life changing words, “Don’t be alarmed, . . . You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here” (Mark 16:6). Suddenly, everything changed. Death was conquered.

That event changed life for you and me too. The One who was crucified is indeed risen! Because Jesus is alive, our lives can be different.
