There’s Value In Him

“Beauty is only skin deep.” We say that but most of the world does not seem to believe it. Millions of dollars are spent on cosmetics, fashion, cosmetic surgery, and countless other beauty enhancers. Television is full of showing us how to dress, selling us beauty treatments, and how to eat and exercise for a better body.
Isaiah’s prophecy describes Jesus in a less than attractive way. “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him” (Isa. 53:2b). Jesus was considered ordinary, not outstanding by the world’s standards. For those of us, however, who understand what Jesus did for us through his sacrifice and death, he is more precious than gold.
“Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows” (Isa. 53:4a). Jesus was not simply willing to die, but he purposely made that choice to take our sin. Through his wounds we find peace and healing. Take a moment today to thank him and acknowledge his worth in your life.
