Glorious Freedom

Romans 3:9-20
Twelve newly formed churches gathered in one combined service in a mass outdoor rally in West Africa. It was a moving experience to hear these new Christians testify to the joy of freedom from demonic forces and a new life in Christ through the power of the gospel.
In Romans 3, Paul is addressing a group of people whose awareness of their sinfulness was described not in terms of demonic forces, but by disobedience to God-given laws. Their annual sacrifice of atonement may have offered them temporary forgiveness but it did not free them from their sinfulness, even though they were the “people of God.” Paul describes the seriousness of their condition by quoting several verses from the Old Testament. But when you look up these verses you will see that each one of them is in a context of what God wants and can do to transform his people from the inside.
Paul introduces the glorious news of God’s freeing and transforming grace in Jesus Christ.
