The Ultimate Submission

February 20th, 2011

1 Peter 3:13-25

One cold January afternoon, Pastor Prakash and his 18-year-old son were beaten up and put in jail, all because they were sharing Jesus with their neighbors in India. According to local law, preaching about Jesus is punishable by prison. Thanks to the prayers and intervention of Christians around the world, Pastor Prakash and his son were released. He went back to lead his village church and minister in the surrounding area.

A friend visited Pastor Prakash to share appreciation and joy that he was safe. “Don’t thank us,” he responded. “We have learned from the Lord Jesus that we are blessed when we are persecuted because of his name. We count ourselves among those who follow his example of ultimate submission and sacrifice.”

In Jesus, we see the ultimate example–even to the point of death. This continues to be our model.
