The Exchange Rate

Romans 1:18-32

Why would anyone want to make an exchange where they would end up with less? Yet as I stood at the exchange office window, I handed over my dollars for the currency of the country where we were living. At first glance, one could be under the impression that my exchange was good, even an increase. The teller handed me bill after bill, adding up into the thousands. Unfortunately, the thick stack of cash I now held was worth less than the hundred I had given.

Adam and Eve exchanged the truth of God for a lie when they disobeyed and took a bite of forbidden fruit. Esau exchanged his birthright for a bowl of soup. He let his stomach rule the moment. Paul declares to all Romans that people continue to exchange the truth of God for a lie, worshiping created things instead of the Creator.
When it comes to currency exchange, sometimes there is no choice but to accept it. However when it comes to God, there is always a choice.
