Ephesians 3:14-21

One “Peanuts” cartoon showed Charlie Brown being asked by Lucy, “If you were on a cruise ship, would you face ahead or behind?” He said, “I don’t know. I can’t get my deck chair open.”

Perhaps you can relate. We often feel powerless to change our situations, families, jobs, or other areas that would indicate power and prosperity. Money and what it buys can bring power, power that most of us will never have. However, there are things that money cannot buy, even by the world’s most influential people.

We may not be considered rich, but we love and serve a God who is wealthy beyond imagination. He is the provider of the truly priceless things of life. Money and power cannot give peace of mind, freedom from guilt, a good night’s sleep, loving and healthy relationships with spouses, children, friends, and families.

In these difficult economic times, it is good to know the Lord still gives freely to all who ask. He gives the things that are still the most valuable: forgiveness of sins and a new direction for life. All this comes from the Lord who has wealth that exceeds all we can ask or imagine (v. 20).
