Psalm 22:1-8

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Though penned by David, these words are best remembered as being uttered from the cross by Jesus (Matthew 27:46).

Have you ever felt forsaken by God? Several months ago, John and Sarah received the phone call no grandparent ever wants to receive. Their four-year-old granddaughter had just been diagnosed with cancer. For an instant, their emotions kicked in as they began to feel that He had forsaken them. Then they remembered the last sermon preached by Jesus.

Jesus reminded those standing around the cross of the fulfillment of the prophesies. God was forsaking Jesus because He does not want to forsake us. We should take to heart the words that proclaim that we should trust in the Lord and let Him rescue us!

When devastating news comes to us, we can only trust in Him who tells us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Josh. 1:5).

Sometimes it’s a little hard to believe that God is on the situation when enemies surround us and plot our downfall but Psalm 92 reminds us that we will know what ‘they’ are planning to do to us and it shall not do anything to us. Thanks for this piece and May Sarah and John receive peace and healing in their little angel’s lives.
