Genesis 41:41-57

My wife and I had the privilege of traveling to Rome for our 10th anniversary. We did the whole sight-seeing thing and found our way to the Coliseum. As we looked on, I couldn’t help but feel a little sorrow over those early Christians who faced death in the name of Christ just a few feet from where I stood.

However, my sorrow turned to praise. I remembered this place of death was later turned into a place of Christian worship. In that moment, the sweet voice of the Spirit reminded me that when we choose to stay faithful to God’s plan, He is able to use our witness to bring hope to the nations.

Joseph had one of those moments of worship-filled reminiscence when he named his second-born. This young life would be a remembrance to him that God is able to use our suffering as a tool to bear fruit.

Take a moment today to thank God for the difficult days He has led you through. Ask Him to use those days to bring peace and hope to those around you. He is bringing fruit through your obedience.
